Climate Change

Approach and Experience

Our approach to climate change emphasizes the importance of working on both adaptation & mitigation in concert with pursuing sustainable development.

We advocate for an environmental justice approach and the need for just, equitable and urgent solutions.

Working from the global level to national level in countries including Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Ghana, Indonesia, Malawi, Nigeria, Rwanda and Yemen.

The main areas of experience are cities and climate change, nature-based solutions for adaptation, National Adaptation Plans, REDD+, and social and environmental safeguards.

The organizations we have worked with include UNEP, UN-Habitat, Global Center on Adaptation, Cities Alliance, the Global Adaptation Network, Global Green Growth Institute, IISD and The Nature Conservancy.

Sustainable Cities

Approach and expertise

With over half the world’s population living in cities, sustainable urban development is critical to a viable future for the planet for people and the natural environment.

We work to support cities around the world to address climate change, improve livelihoods and provide a better environment for the most vulnerable - with an emphasis on the cities where need is the highest and traditionally investment has been the lowest.

With the experience of working in Africa, Asia, Europe and the U.S. in a variety of cities - including in Least Developed Countries, rapidly urbanizing and cities with high level of vulnerability, the focus is on approaches to sustainable cities that prioritize people and the environment.

Building on work experience with UN-Habitat, Cities Alliance, CMAP, C40, GCOM and in collaboration WRI, ICLEI, IIED, SDI and UNEP, our approach emphasizes the importance of engaging with the diversity of urban stakeholders critical for catalytic change.

Natural Environment

APPROACH AND EXPERTISE

The natural environment is increasingly under threat yet it is also critical for a more sustainable future as part of solutions for climate change, livelihoods for vulnerable populations and habitat for critically endangered species.

From cities to forests, nature-based solutions and integrated environmental planning are often overlooked yet vital approaches for developing and developed countries alike.

Drawing on experience working with UNDP, UNEP, the Global Commission on Adaptation, the Global Commons Alliance and in collaboration with WWF, TNC, UNEP-WCMC, the approach to natural environment emphasizes the need for integrated and comprehensive planning and management for improved outcomes for current and future generations.
